Supporting last mile communities in Kenya

Throughout the pandemic, we have put broad and equitable access at the heart of our response, making the tools needed to fight the disease accessible to all people, no matter who they are or where they live.

We recognise that innovative solutions are required to increase vaccination rates and stop the spread of the virus, especially in last mile communities which do not have routine contact with health care facilities and have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated.

To address this challenge, we are supporting mobile health clinics in Kenya, in partnership with the Kenya Ministry of Health and Amref, Africa’s largest health and development non-governmental organisation.

Launched in June 2022, the ten solar powered mobile clinics will work across Kenya to help to bridge the vaccine gap by providing vaccine education, 筛选, safe and accessible vaccination, and post-immunisation care.

Dr. Githinji Gitahi, Group CEO, Amref Health Africa, 说: “The movable clinics are a great addition to the toolkit that will ensure equity in access to last-mile communities with much-needed vaccination and essential health services. Together with our partners, the Ministry of Health in Kenya, 澳门在线赌城娱乐, and other stakeholders in the private and public sectors, we remain committed to sustaining the momentum towards vaccinating 70% of the eligible population through this innovative solution. 最终, the clinics will add to the health system infrastructure, further improving our preparedness for health emergencies in the country.”

Dr Pelin Incesu, Area Vice President, Middle East and Africa, 澳门在线赌城娱乐 说, “We are thrilled to launch this innovative partnership with the Ministry of Health and Amref Health Africa to ensure that no Kenyan is left behind in our efforts to protect lives from life-threatening diseases. This is part of 澳门在线赌城娱乐's ongoing commitment to a patient-centric response to the pandemic.”

从长远来看, as Kenya integrates vaccination services into primary health care, the mobile clinics will adapt their focus to raise awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and provide NCD health service continuity, specifically targeting people living with diabetes and hypertension.
